When the WonderChess founder introduced chess to his son using a standard chess set and instruction book, it did not go well. He quickly became bored and overwhelmed — common reasons children lose interest in chess. Then the Aha! solution sprang into mind — design chess pieces that can contain hidden, "tricks or treats" to provide fun, encouragement and immediate reward. The reaction was one of joy, excitement, and focus which in turn accelerated the learning process and reduced frustration. Today, WonderChess continues to add their patent-pending magic to new products.
